Box Score CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Parkland men's basketball team got a hard-fought win on Sunday afternoon, defeating Spoon River College 89-77 in a game that included 41 fouls. The Snappers struggled from behind the arc and the Cobras dominated the paint in their third conference win of the season.
Josh Rivers shined for the Cobras, tallying 21 points and 8 rebounds in the Cobras' fifth straight win at home.

The Cobras (12-5) (3-1) jumped out to a quick 8-2 lead thanks to forcing turnovers on the defensive end. Parkland shot the ball well in the first half (56.7%) and stretched their lead out to 20 points thanks to a 14-3 run at the 4:32 mark. The Snappers (8-11) (1-2) ended the half with an 8-2 run of their own but the Cobras still led 49-32 at the break. The second half was a two-man show for the Snappers, as Micale Mee and Geovonni Floyd combined for 34 second-half points. Spoon River got back into the game in the second half thanks to excellent free throw shooting (24-30), cutting the Cobras lead down to just five with 2:29 remaining, but a foul on Geovonni Floyd on the next possession forced the Snappers to play the rest of the game with just four players, as they only had seven active players for Sunday's game. The Cobras, playing against just four defenders, finished the game on an 8-2 run to secure the 89-77 win.
