CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Parkland College golf team finds itself in second place in the NJCAA Central District Championship after day one of the two-day tournament played at the par-72 Dalhousie Country Club in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The Cobra golfers are 10-over par as a team after two rounds with a combined score of 600. Parkland sits 29 shots ahead of third-place Illinois Central College (+53, 629) while the Cobras trail current leader Heartland Community College (+10, 586) by 14 strokes.
All four remaining Parkland individuals currently sit in the top 10.
Dain Richie (T3) fired a 75 in round one, followed by a team-low 73 in round two for a two-round score of 148, four shots back of the leader. Freshmen
Kegan Niles (5th) is not far behind, finishing day one with a round of 75 after shooting a 74 in the early round. Swedish sophomore
Joel Petersson (T6) paired a 75 with a 76 to put himself in a tie for sixth place while 2021 M-WAC Conference Champion
Corey Neville (8th) ended his day with a round of 74 after shooting a 78 in the first round.

Up next, the Cobras remain in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, for the final day the NJCAA Central District Championship, on May 3, at the Dalhousie Country Club. Parkland is attempting to qualify for its fifth consecutive NJCAA National Championship Tournament.
