Box Score KANKAKEE, Ill. – The Parkland College men's basketball team could not stop a late Cavalier comeback on Thursday night, as the Cobras (7-6) fell, 71-61, against Kankakee Community College (11-7) on the road. Parkland outrebounded KCC 39-29, but the Cobras couldn't keep the Cavaliers off the free throw line in the team's first loss since November 19th. Sophomore guard
Sean Ealy (14 points) led all scorers, while
Don Coats III (11 points, 11 rebounds) recorded a double-double in the loss.
The Cobras grabbed an early lead on the road, and after two
Daniel Reed jumpers, the Cavaliers trailed 21-12 midway through the first half. Parkland led by as many as 10 points early, but KCC closed the first half out on an 11-6 run, and the Cobras took a 30-25 lead into halftime. Parkland opened the second half on a 6-2 run, and with 9:45 to go, the team held a 50-42 lead. KCC quickly began to close the gap, tying Parkland late in the second half as both teams looked to work the ball inside. The Cavaliers stayed locked in at the free throw line all night, and the Cobras couldn't calm the comeback as Parkland fell short, 71-61, in Kankakee.
