CHAMPAIGN, Ill. —September 10, 2025—The Parkland volleyball team fed off a charged home crowd on Wednesday night, sweeping John Wood Community College 25-6, 25-14, 25-19. The match was played in a celebratory atmosphere as athletes from every sport filled the stands to honor head coach Cliff Hastings for his recent 800th career victory milestone.

The Cobras wasted no time setting the tone, rolling through the first set with a commanding win. Shay McMillen led Parkland with 10 kills and 4 digs, while Natalie Alexander added 6 kills and 4 block assists at the net. Setter Hailey Warfel ran the offense with 21 assists and contributed 2 kills of her own. Addie Beekman and Sammi Christman chipped in 7 combined kills, while libero Anna McEwen steadied the back row with 12 digs.

Parkland closed out the sweep behind balanced scoring and strong defensive play, finishing with a .403 team hitting percentage and 22 block assists. The victory lifted the Cobras to 19-1 on the season and gave players and fans alike the chance to celebrate both a team win and Coach Hastings' historic achievement.

Next up, Parkland will compete in the two-day Heartland Invitational in Normal, Illinois, where they'll take on two other nationally ranked opponents: No. 11 Sauk Valley Community College on September 12th (3:00PM) and No. 24 Rock Valley College on September 13th  (10:00AM).
