Parkland Softball takes 2 of 3 on final day of Florida trip

The Parkland Softball team took on three different opponents on their final day of their week long excursion to Florida and came away with wins in two of the three games. PC beat Anoka-Ramsey and St. Louis CC but lost to the Community College of Morris.


Game 1    PC  14    Anoka  6  (5 innings)

Shelby Youngblood led the offensive attack with 3 hits, 3 runs, and 6 RBI as PC overcame a 5-4 deficit by scoring five runs in both the 4th and 5th innings. In addition to Youngblood's big day at the plate Lauren Wedding drive in three runs,  Makayla Reedy had 2 hits  and 2 RBI, and Lauren Block and Ivy Nichols each had two 2 hits.  Morgan Parrish got the win on the mound for the Cobras, striking out 7 and walking 1.

In maybe their best game of the season so far, the Cobras jumped on top in the bottom of the 2nd on a two RBI double by Kyliegh Basham and an RBI from Bre Riemenschneider.  PC added three more runs in the 6th on Lauren Spelich's 2 run double and Makenzie Ruppert's sac. fly. Kirbie Mendenhall got the win, striking out 3 and walking none.

Game 3   PC   12     County College of Morris  13

In a wild game, the Cobras fell behind 10-2 after 4 innings but rallied for 10 runs in the 5th to take a 12-10 lead. Remarkably, all 10 runs scored after two were out. The big hit in the inning was Makayla Reedy's grand slam, her 1st college home run.  The Titans got one run back in the 6th and won the game in the bottom of the 7th with two more runs.  Offensively for the Cobras, Shelby Youngblood had  3 more  hits and scored two 2 runs.  Lauren Wendling had 3 hits, Kyliegh Basham 2 hits and 2 runs, and Bre Riemenschneider finished with 2 hits, 2 runs, and 2 RBI. Tori Witruk started for PC going 5 innings when Kirbie Mendenhall came in for  relief and took the loss.
