SPARTANBURG, S.C.—May 21, 2026—The Parkland College softball team saw its NJCAA Division II Softball World Series run come to an end Thursday with an 0-8 loss in 5 innings to State College of Florida (Manatee-Sarasota).
State College of Florida struck early with 2 runs in the first inning before adding 5 more in the second to take control of the elimination matchup.
Parkland was limited to 4 hits offensively. Lainey Klokkenga led the Cobras with 2 hits, while Lindsey Muskopf and Abbey Horeis each added a hit. Kaitlyn Helms and Horeis recorded doubles in the contest.
Lucy Fearday started inside the circle for Parkland, striking out 6 over 5 innings of work.
The loss closes the book on a memorable postseason run for the Cobras, who battled through the elimination bracket at the World Series.
With the loss, the Cobras conclude the 2025-26 season with a 40-20 overall record after capturing the NJCAA Region 24 Championship and advancing to the national stage.
