SPARTANBURG, S.C.—May 19, 2026—The Parkland College softball team opened play at the NJCAA Division II Softball World Series on Tuesday with a split, defeating Richard Bland College 3-0 before falling to defending national champion Copiah-Lincoln Community College 0-8 in six innings.
Despite the loss, the Cobras remain alive in the tournament and will face Cecil College on Wednesday, May 20, in an elimination game.

The Cobras opened their World Series run with a shutout victory behind a dominant performance from sophomore pitcher Lucy Fearday.
Fearday tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing 7 hits while striking out 5 over 7 innings of work.
Parkland struck first in the opening inning before adding insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
Lainey Klokkenga drove in 2 runs on a pair of sacrifice flies, while Kaitlyn Helms added an RBI. Lindsey Muskopf recorded a triple, and Fearday helped herself at the plate with 2 hits.
Nicole Sinks reached base 4 times with 3 walks and a run scored, while Saige Althoff crossed the plate as a pinch runner.
Parkland 0, Copiah-Lincoln 8 (6 innings)
In the second game of the day, the Cobras faced a difficult challenge against reigning national champion Copiah-Lincoln Community College.
After three scoreless innings, Copiah-Lincoln broke through with 3 runs in the fourth inning before adding 5 more runs over the final 2 frames to secure the run-rule victory.
Parkland was limited to no hits offensively and struck out 7 times against the Wolves' pitching staff.
Parkland will continue its World Series run on Wednesday, May 20, when the Cobras take on Cecil College in an elimination matchup in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
