The Parkland College Softball team could not get their bats untracked on Thursday as they were shutout twice by visiting John Wood. The Cobras lost by the scores of 4-0 and 7-0, collecting just four hits on the afternoon. Â PC has now been shutout in three of their last four games and has lost 8 of their last 10 contests.
Â
Game 1:
Â
A tight pitching duel turned into a John Wood  win as they scored four times in the 6th inning to earn the win. Cobra pitcher
Tori Witruk cruised thru the first five innings allowing just two hits but the Parkland hitters were of no help, as JW retired the first 12 hitters of the game until
Makayla Reedy led off the 5th inning with a single. She moved up to 2nd after a sacrifice bunt but was left stranded after an infield pop-up and a strikeout. Â The Blazers used three doubles and a walk to score four times in the 6th and that would be all they would need as PC only managed one base runner over the final two innings.

Game 2:
Â
Cobra starter
Kirbie Mendenhall retired 9 of the first 10 hitters but the wheels came off in the 4th thru 6th innings. Â In the 4th the Blazers took advantage of a lead-off walk and a hit batsmen to score two runs and scored two more times in the 5th with the help of two Cobra errors. They would put the contest away scoring three times in the 6th as they used three hits, two walks, and an error to score their runs. Â PC never really threatened in the contest as they failed to get a runner to 2nd base and were retired in order in four of the seven innings. Â
Makayla Reedy had two of the Cobras three hits.
