The Parkland College Softball team continued with M-WAC play on a cold, windy, and snowy Friday and came away with a split with rival Danville. The Jaguars won the opener 15-7 before the Cobras bounced back to win game two 8-4.  The split leaves PC at (14-13 6-4) while DACC is now (16-7 6-6).  Parkland will host #14 and league leading Heartland (19-6 10-2) in a doubleheader Sunday starting at Noon.

Game 1:

 The Cobra led 7-5 going to the bottom of the 5th before DACC erupted for 10 runs on 10 hits to win the game by the run-rule.  The Cobras had fallen behind 3-0 early but rallied with three runs in the 3rd highlighted by Makayla Reedy's two run single.  Reedy delivered another two run single in the 5th to put PC back ahead but the Jaguars rallied for the win. Reedy had 2 hits and 4 RBI while Ivy Nichols had two hits and two runs driven in.

 Game 2:
With the score 0-0 going into the top of the 2nd , PC got four runs on six hits to grab the early lead.    Lauren Spelich lead off with a single, Bre Riemenschneider singled, and  Brigette Belt followed with an RBI single.  Kyliegh Basham drove in a run with another single and  Ivy Nichols and Shelby Youngblood drove in runs with singles of their own.  PC added one more in the 4th on Basham's single and scored when Youngblood  drove a ball over the right fielders head for a triple.  In the 6th, Parkland added three more runs as Madyson Butkauskas and Basham singled and Nichols drive to the right field wall for a triple.  Nichols scored on Makayla Reedy single up the middle.   

DACC scored three runs in the 6th and one run in the final inning but PC held on for the win. Tori Witruk held DACC down until they got 5 of their 8 hits in the final 2 innings. Nichols continued her hot hitting at the plate with 2 hits and 3 RBI.  Butkauskas had two hits and scored twice while Kyliegh Basham had 3 hits and Brigette Belt two in the victory.
