Softball loses Region tournament opener

Lincoln Land turned two walks and three hits, all after two were out, to score twice in the 6th and then hung on in the 7th for a 6-5 win over Parkland in the opening round of the Region 24 Tournament in Normal.
PC threatened in the 7th as Lauren Spelich and Kyliegh Basham both singled to start the inning. Ivy Nichols was retired on a pop up to shallow center and Shelby Youngblood grounded into a fielders choice. PC got new life as Makayla Reedy reached on an error allowing a run to score but Lauren Block grounded out to short to end the game.
After falling behind 2-0, the Cobras grabbed a 4-0 lead in the 4th as they put five straight hits together to score four times.  The Loggers scored twice in the 5th to tie the game and set up the late inning heroics.
Parkland will take on John Wood later tonight in a loser's bracket game while Lincoln Land takes on Heartland.
