Box Score 2 BARNESVILLE, Ga. – The Parkland College Softball team struggled to put runs on the board as the Cobras dropped two games to Gordon State College on Thursday evening. The Cobras lost their first game, 4-2, and their second, 2-0, despite outhitting the Highlanders 8-7 between the two games. Parkland has now lost their last six games.
Up next, Parkland will down travel to Tallahassee, Florida for a doubleheader against Tallahassee Community College on Saturday, March 11th. Game times are 3:00 PM EST and 5:00 PM EST.
Game 1: Gordon State 4, Parkland 2
The Cobras (3-11) trailed 2-0 in the bottom of the second inning after the Highlanders ripped a double that drove in two. Parkland's
Lizzy Davis (1-2, HR, 2 RBI) tied the game up in the top of the third with a two-run home run, but Gordon State scored again in the bottom of the inning and the Cobras fell, 4-2 in game one.
Chayse Ramey (2-5) was credited with the loss on Thursday afternoon. Ramey struck out nine batters but allowed four hits and four runs over six innings of work.
Game 2: Gordon State 2, Parkland 0
Parkland's
Jaidi Davis found herself in a pitchers' duel on Thursday night, as both teams' starting pitchers went the distance. Davis (6.0 IP, 2 ER, 7 K) held Gordon State to just three hits, but the Highlanders were able to take her deep for a two-run game-winning home run in the bottom of the fifth and the Cobras lost 2-0.
