Box Score 3 TITUSVILLE, Fla. – The Parkland College Softball team swept their opponents at Cocoa Beach on Tuesday, beating Dakota County Technical College twice, 11-1 and 8-1 respectively, and North Central Missouri College 2-1. The Cobras have now won six games in a row in Florida, outscoring their opponents by 6.17 runs per game on average.
Co-Head Coach
Dan Paulson said after the 6-0 stretch, "Yesterday our pitching was outstanding and today our defense was errorless in three games." Co-Head Coach
Kristi Paulson agreed with him, saying, "Our pitchers had to grind a little today, but the defensive support was impressive. Cheely, Walker, Dugger, Kavanagh, and Warren all had big plays in the infield."
Up next, the Cobras have a day off on Wednesday, before a rematch with North Central Missouri College and a matchup in the afternoon Madison College on Thursday, March 17th.
Game 1: Parkland College 11, Dakota County Technical College 1
The Cobras (10-12) succeeded early on offensively, driving in two runs in the first inning and taking a 6-0 lead after the fourth in their first game against Dakota County Tech. The Blue Knights got one back in the bottom of the fourth, but four different Cobras drove in runs in the top of the fifth and Parkland locked up the 11-1 win in six innings to win their fourth straight game.
Jaidi Davis (5.0 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 3 K) earned her second win of the season and
Emily Senjan pitched a scoreless inning in relief. Senjan struck one out one in the circle and went 1-2 at the plate, driving in one run in the third inning.
Anna Walker (1-3, 2 RBI),
Lizzy Davis (1-4, 2 RBI) and
Delaney Melton (1-1, 2 RBI) each drove in multiple runs while
Zoey Clark went a perfect 2-2 at the plate, scoring twice.
Game 2: Parkland College 8, Dakota County Technical College 1
The Cobras again opened the scoring against the Blue Knights, driving in two in the second inning. Dakota County cut the lead to 2-1 in the top of the third inning, but Parkland drove across two more runs in the bottom of the inning and the Cobras swept the Blue Knights, winning the second game 8-1.
Anna Walker (2-4, HR, 3 RBI) and
Zoey Clark (2-4, HR, 3 WBI) both homered in the bottom of the fifth inning and
Reagan Cheely (2-4) scored twice in the Cobras fifth straight win.
Emily Senjan (3-4) got the complete-game win, allowing just four hits and one run.
Game 3: Parkland College 2, North Central Missouri College 1
The Cobras' bats quieted a bit in the third game, but a lights-out performance by
Chayse Ramey (5-6) on the rubber and a costly two-run error by North Central Missouri were enough to help Parkland to the 2-1 victory.
Zoey Clark hit a ground ball to the Pirates' second baseman with one out in the bottom of the third that scored Casey Mandrell (1-2, R) and
Kendyl Ring (2-3, R) when she mishandled it. The Cobras were out hit 5-4, but their 2-0 lead was all that
Chayse Ramey (7.0 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 4 K) would need to cap off Parkland's sixth consecutive win and third of the day.
Reagan Cheely (1-3) also recorded a hit in the win.
