Parkland Softball Sweeps Mineral Area College

The Cobras have won six straight games

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 PARK HILLS, Mo. – The Parkland College Softball team completed another two-game sweep on Tuesday afternoon, defeating Mineral Area College 12-3 and 8-0, respectively, to extend their winning streak to six games. The Cobras got out to an early lead in both games and the team's pitching remained the difference-maker, as Parkland allowed just three hits between the two games in Park Hills, Missouri. Anna Walker and Lizzy Davis each drove in five runs over the course of the doubleheader and the Cobras have now won 14 of their last 15 games.

Up next, the Cobras will host their first conference opponent of the season on Saturday, April 2nd at the Parkland College Softball Field when Lincoln Land Community College comes to Champaign. First pitch against the Loggers is scheduled for 1:00 PM.

Game 1: Parkland College 12, Mineral Area College 3 (5 innings)

The Cobras (18-13) led 1-0 in the top of the 1st after Kendyl Ring stole home on a throw to second, and the flood gates broke open in the 3rd inning as Parkland scored six. The Cardinals (2-18) got three runs back in the bottom of the 4th, but the Cobras' offense wasn't done. Reagan Cheely singled to left field to drive in Delaney Melton before Lizzy Davis and Kaylee Warren hit back-to-back homers to give Parkland back a nine-run lead. Jaidi Davis came in for relief in the bottom of the 5th and forced three groundouts as the Cobras won the first game 12-3.

Lizzy Davis (3-4, 5 RBI, 2 HR) drove in five runs on Tuesday on home runs in the third and in the fifth and Kaylee Warren (2-4, 2 RBI, 2 HR) also went yard twice for Parkland. 10 different Cobras recorded a hit in their fifth straight win.

Emily Senjan (4-1) earned the win for the Cobras in her fifth start of the season. Senjan struck out four and gave up just two hits while not allowing a run over four innings. Jaidi Davis recorded the final three outs on just nine pitches

Game 2: Parkland College 8, Mineral Area College 0 (6 innings)

With one out in the top of the 1st, Anna Walker got the second game started for the Cobras when she hit a solo home run on a 3-2 count to give Parkland the lead. The Cardinals trailed 3-0 after two innings and it only got worse for them in the top of the 4th when Anna Walker hit her second bomb of the day, this time driving in three, giving the Cobras a 6-0 lead. Seven different Parkland players scored, and the Cobras handled the Cardinals 8-0 in game two.

Walker (3-4, 4 RBI, HR, 3 H, 2 R, SB) obviously stole the show offensively for Parkland, but two other Cobras had hit home runs in the later game, including catcher Casy Mandrell (2-3, HR, RBI, BB) and pinch hitter Eden McAvoy (1-1, HR, RBI).

Chayse Ramey (9-7) made the start for the Cobras, earning the win by striking out seven batters and allowing zero hits over three innings. Jaidi Davis (4-4) relieved Ramey for the final three innings, allowing just one hit and striking out three to secure the win.
