Parkland Softball Goes 2-0 Against John Wood Community College

The Cobras outscore the Blazers 17-4

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Parkland College Softball team hosted John Wood Community College in an M-WAC conference doubleheader on Friday afternoon, taking down the Blazers in both games by scores of 10-2 and 7-2, respectively. Reigning NJCAA DII Pitcher of the Week Chayse Ramey picked up her 14th win of the season in game one and Taylor Dugger drove in three runs to lead the Cobras in game two as Parkland out hit John Wood 22-9 over the two games.
 
Up next, the Cobras will host Spoon River College on Saturday, April 16th in another M-WAC doubleheader. First pitch is set for 1:00 PM.
 
 
Game 1: Parkland College 10, John Wood Community College 2
 
The Cobras (24-15) (10-2) trailed the Blazers (6-20) (4-8) in the 1st inning but quickly tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the frame. Madison Vogel (1-3, HR, RBI) gave Parkland the lead with a solo home run in the bottom of the 2nd and the Cobras never looked back, scoring five more in the 3rd to take a commanding 8-2 lead. Lauren Kavanagh's sacrifice fly in the 4th drove in Casy Mandrell to keep the scoring going and Delaney Melton's RBI single in the 5th wrapped up the Cobras 10-2 win in game one.
 
10 different Cobras recorded a hit, with Taylor Dugger (2-3, RBI, R), Lizzy Davis (2-2, 2 RBI, R, BB, SB) and Casy Mandrell (2-3, RBI, 2 R) leading the way with two apiece. In the circle, Chayse Ramey (14-7) allowed two earned runs in the 1st, but settled in as the game went on, striking out three batters and allowing just one hit over four innings of work. Emily Senjan closed the game, striking out two batters in the 5th.
 
Game 2: Parkland College 7, John Wood Community College 2
 
The Cobras opened the scoring in the 1st inning, leading 3-0 after Taylor Dugger drove in two and later scored on an error. Parkland would add to their lead in the 3rd after back-to-back doubles gave the Cobras a 5-0 lead. The Blazers scored in the 5th and 6th, but it wasn't enough as Parkland scattered nine hits throughout the game and the Cobras walked away with a 7-2 conference win.
 
Jaidi Davis (5-6) earned the win for the Cobras, surrendering two runs on eight hits over five innings. Chayse Ramey relieved Davis, throwing two innings out of the bullpen. Offensively, Dugger (2-3, 3 RBI, R), Reagan Cheely (3-4, 2 RBI, 2 R, SB), and Anna Walker (2-3, RBI, 2 R, BB) each tallied multiple hits.
