Box Score 2 CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Parkland College Softball team picked up two wins at home against Mineral Area College, defeating the Cardinals 12-3 in six innings in the first game and 5-4 in exciting fashion in game two. The Cobras out hit their opponent 17-5 in the early game before taking down the Cardinals in the later game on a
Lizzy Davis 3-run walk-off double.

Up next, the Cobras match up against Heartland Community College in Champaign for a doubleheader on Friday, April 22nd. First pitch against the Hawks will be at 2:00 PM.

Game 1: Parkland College 12, Mineral Area College 3 (6 innings)

Anna Walker doubled in the bottom of the 3rd to give the Cobras (28-17) a 2-0 lead against the Cardinals (7-29) in the first game of the doubleheader on Thursday. Parkland drove in six more runs in the 4th, including two on an
Anna Walker home run, but Mineral Area was able to get three back in the 5th, cutting the Cobras' lead to 8-3. Walker's second home run of the day came in the bottom of the 6th and
Casy Mandrell joined the party with a two-run shot to end the game in six innings as the Cobras beat the Cardinals 12-3.

Jaidi Davis (7-6) made the start for Parkland, earning the win with a two-hit, shut out performance over four innings of work.
Josie Birch (2.0 IP, 3 ER, 3 H) closed out the game for the Cobras.

Taylor Dugger (3-4, 3 R, 2 SB) led the team in runs. Both

The Cobras were the first on the board in game two, scoring on a
Delaney Melton triple in the 2nd inning, but the Cardinals answered in the top of the 3rd. Trailing 3-1,
Taylor Dugger drove in
Lizzy Davis on an RBI-single to cut into Mineral Area's lead. The Cardinals drove in a run on a sac fly in the 5th to make the score 4-2, and that's where the score stayed into the bottom of the 7th. With one out and runners on first and second,
Lizzy Davis hit a line drive double into left field that scored both. After advancing to third on the throw, Davis headed home with the game tied, scoring on an error by the catcher and stealing a 5-4 Parkland victory over Mineral Area College in thrilling fashion.

Emily Senjan (4-2) made the start for the Cobras, allowing six hits and four runs over five innings, striking out two.
Chayse Ramey (16-8) earned the win, striking out two while not allowing a hit over two relief innings.
Lizzy Davis (2-4, 2 RBI, 2 2B, 2 R)
Taylor Dugger (2-3, RBI, SB) and
Delaney Melton (1-2, 3B, RBI, R, BB) did most of the damage at the plate for the Cobras, accounting for all of Parkland's hits and RBI.
