Box Score 2 NORMAL, Ill. – The Parkland College Softball team took down Heartland Community College in both games of a conference doubleheader on Thursday afternoon, defeating the Hawks 14-8 and 12-6, respectively. The Cobras outhit the Hawks 23-17 in the second doubleheader the two teams have played this season. Sophomore

Anna Walker scored five runs as Parkland improved to 17-5 in conference play.Â

Up next, the Cobras wrap up their regular season tomorrow with a home doubleheader against Lincoln Land Community College on Friday, April 29th. First pitch against the Loggers is scheduled for 2:00 PM.Â

Game 1: Parkland College 14, Heartland Community College 8Â

The Cobras (34-19) (17-5) struck first in the top of the 3rd inning, but the team trailed 3-2 going into the 4th. Parkland tied things up with the Hawks (12-22) (8-16) before the Cobras' offense exploded for 10 runs in the top of the 5th to take a 13-3 lead. Heartland got five back in the bottom of the inning, but Parkland's lead was too much as the Cobras win game one 14-8.Â

Casy Mandrell (3-4, 5 RBI, 2 R) drove in five runs while shortstop
Anna Walker (3-4, HR, 2 RBI, 4 R) went deep and led the team in scoring. Outfielder
Kendyl Ring (1-3, 2 RBI, R) also drove in two in the win. Sophomore
Chayse Ramey (20-9) earned the win, surrendering four runs on eight hits over seven innings, striking out nine. Â

Game 2: Parkland College 12, Heartland Community College 6Â

The Hawks were first on the board in game two, taking a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The Cobras cut the deficit down in the 2nd and 3rd innings, but Heartland drove in another in the 4th to bring their lead to 6-3. Parkland tied the game in the top of the 5th inning thanks to
Anna Walker's 2-RBI double and
Reagan Cheely's RBI triple before Cheely scored on a passed ball to give the Cobras a 7-6 lead. Parkland drove in five more runs in the top of the 7th as the Cobras complete the sweep with a 12-6 victory.Â
