Box Score 2 DANVILLE, Ill. – The Parkland College Softball team continued their postseason run on Sunday, advancing in the double-elimination Region 24 Championship tournament in Danville. The Cobras defeated Spoon River College 5-4 before losing to Illinois Central College, 5-1, in the team's second game.

Up next, the Cobras will face Danville Area Community College tomorrow, May 9th at 11:00 AM in the next round of the Region 24 Tournament in Danville. The winner of Monday morning's game will match up against Illinois Central College in the Championship game later that same day.

Game 1: Parkland College 5, Spoon River College 4

The Cobras (39-20) trailed after the Snappers (38-20) scored one run in the top of the 1st inning. Spoon River extended its lead to 3-0 in the 3rd before Parkland tied the game in the bottom of the 4th. In the bottom of the 5th,
Reagan Cheely hit an RBI single to right field and an RBI infield single from
Casy Mandrell gave the Cobras a 5-3 lead, their first of the game. The Snappers drove in a run on a double in the bottom of the 7th, but Parkland held on and got the 5-4 postseason win in Danville.

"This team has come from behind several times this year," co-head coach
Dan Paulson said after the game. "They always believe they can, and it was nice to see them do that."

Chayse Ramey (23-9) earned the win for Parkland with a nine-strikeout complete game. Ramey allowed four runs on eight hits over seven innings in her 23rd win of the season, third most in the country.

Taylor Dugger (2-3) and
Anna Walker (2-3, 2B, R) led the team in hits while
Reagan Cheely (1-2, RBI, R, BB),
Casy Mandrell (1-2, RBI, R, BB) and
Kendyl Ring (1-3, RBI, R, SB) each drove in a run in the win.

Game 2: Illinois Central College 5, Parkland College 1

Parkland fell behind 4-0 to Illinois Central in the 2nd inning, but the Cougars (32-18) were not done, scoring another run in the 4th. The Cobras managed just five hits in their second game of the day, scoring just once in the bottom of the 7th on a
Delaney Melton RBI single in the 5-1 loss to the Cougars.

Sophomores
Lizzy Davis (1-3, BB) and
Anna Walker (1-3, BB, SB) got on base twice while freshmen
Kendyl Ring (1-3, R, SB) and
Delaney Melton (1-3, RBI) each managed a hit in the loss. In the circle,
Chayse Ramey (23-10) picked up the loss after allowing five runs on seven hits, striking out six batters over seven innings.

"We were just not as sharp as we should be, but we fought till the end," Paulson said following the loss to Illinois Central. "We are excited to get back on the field tomorrow and get after it. We are now in a win or go home situation so we should show up with plenty of energy."
