No. 6 Parkland Softball Sweeps Anoka-Ramsey Community College

The Cobras defeat the Golden Rams 15-0 and 16-1

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 TITUSVILLE, Fla. – The No. 6 ranked Parkland College Softball team added two more wins on Monday, March 13th, taking down DIII Anoka-Ramsey Community College 15-0 and 16-1 in the Cobras' first two games in Florida this spring break. Parkland allowed just three hits over two games as freshmen Karley Yergler and Ryleigh Owens earned wins over the Golden Rams (5-5) on Monday.
 
Up next, the Cobras resume play tomorrow, March 13th, when they face Central Lake College-Brainerd at 11:30 AM EST and Iowa Central Community College at 1:30 PM.
 
Game 1: No. 6 Parkland 15, Anoka-Ramsey Community College 0
 
The Cobras hit back-to-back-to-back RBI singles in the bottom of the second inning, and Parkland led 8-0 heading into the 3rd after Zoey Clark (1-1, RBI, R, BB) lined an RBI double into center field, scoring Ellie Vetter (1-2, 2 RBI, R). Sophomore catcher Emma Hardiek knocked a three-run home run over the left field fence in the bottom of the 3rd as the Cobras scored seven more runs, and the team comfortably won 15-0 in five innings in game one.
 
Starting pitcher Karley Yergler (2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 4 K) struck out half the batters she faced, and freshman Marina Rohman (3.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER) made her second appearance of the season in relief.
 
Game 2: No. 6 Parkland 16, Anoka-Ramsey 1
 
Parkland led 3-0 after the first inning, and Anoka-Ramsey scored their only run of the day in the top of the 2nd to cut the early Cobra lead. Centerfielder Katy Hendricks and shortstop Lizzie Stiverson (1-3, 2 R) scored on a Golden Ram passed ball in the 2nd to take a 5-1 lead, and the Cobras broke the game open with 10 runs in the bottom of the 3rd. Right fielder Katie Clark scored on an error in the bottom of the 4th, and Parkland completed the series sweep, 16-1 in five innings in game two.
 
Freshman Ryleigh Owens (2.0 IP, 1 H, 1 ER) struck out two in her second career start, and Izzy Sheets (3.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 5 K) relieved her in the top of the 3rd. Hendricks (2-2, 3 RBI, 2 R, HR) launched a 3-run home run to start the run in the 3rd, and sophomores Jaidi Davis and Jade Baker both went 2-2 in the win.
