Box Score 2 CANTON, Ill. – The No. 3 ranked Parkland College Softball team finished regular season play on Friday, April 28th, sweeping No. 20 Spoon River College in a conference doubleheader. The Cobras (46-10) (20-0) won 1-0 and 6-2 over the Snappers (37-16-1) (13-9) on the road to finish 20-0 in M-WAC play, outhitting Spoon River 17-5 on Friday. Shortstop
Lizzie Stiverson lifted the Cobras with a go-ahead solo home run in extra innings in game one, and infielders
Bri Roloff and
Emma Mason each hit a homer in game two to complete the sweep. Parkland ends the regular season with a 6-3 record against ranked opponents.

Up next, the Cobras begin postseason play next weekend at home in the Central A District Championship. Parkland will host the double-elimination tournament at the Parkland College Softball Field, starting Saturday, May 6th, with their first opponents TBD.

Karley Yergler (22-7) stayed locked in for all eight innings of her 26th start on Friday afternoon, allowing just one hit and zero walks while striking out 14 batters in the shutout. The freshman did not allow a baserunner after the 2nd inning, keeping the Cobras in the game until fellow freshman
Lizzie Stiverson (1-4, HR, RBI) launched her third home run of the season over the left field fence in the top of the 8th, and Parkland finished off the 1-0 win to remain undefeated in conference play.

The Cobras took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning after
Kami Pearson doubled in
Ryleigh Owens, but the Snappers answered with a 2-run home run in the bottom half. Parkland regained the lead in the top of the 3rd following a 2-RBI double from
Emma Mason, and
Bri Roloff pounded her team-leading sixth home run to give the Cobras a 5-2 lead. Mason provided Parkland an insurance run in the top of the 7th, smacking a solo home run out to left field, and the Cobras won 6-2.
