Box Score 2 GODFREY, Ill. – The No. 1 Parkland College Softball team opened M-WAC conference play on the road with two victories at Lewis & Clark Community College on Saturday, March 23rd. The Cobras (27-3) (2-0) rolled to a 20-1 win in game one versus the Trailblazers (1-10) (1-2) and continued their winning ways with a 21-2 result in game two, extending their current winning streak to 20 straight games. Lizzie Stiverson launched a home run in both games on Saturday, while sophomore utility player
Payton Roberts led the Cobras with 6 RBI on the day.

Up next, Parkland hosts a conference doubleheader versus Spoon River College tomorrow, March 24th, in the Cobras' 2024 home opener. First pitch against the Snappers (15-9) is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at the Parkland College Softball Field.

The Cobras took a 1-0 lead on an RBI double from
Kailyn Wilson (1-1, 2B, RBI, R, BB) in the top of the 2nd inning before busing the game wide open with an 11-run 3rd inning, highlighted by home runs from
Karley Yergler (1-3, HR, 2 RBI) and
Lizzie Stiverson (2-3, HR, 2B, 3 RBI, 2 R), and Parkland knocked in four more in the 4th to lead 16-0. The Trailblazers ended the shutout with a run in the bottom of the 4th, and the Cobras scored four in the top of the 5th on their way to a 20-1 win.

Ellie Vetter (8-1) struck out six batters over three innings, allowing just one walk and no hits before
Claire Black (2.0 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 2 K) relieved her in the 4th inning for her eighth appearance of the season.

Parkland popped in five runs in the top of the 1st inning, including a solo home run from
Lizzie Stiverson (1-2, HR, 2 RBI), her second on the day, and sophomore catcher
Lexie Griffin (1-1, HR, 2 RBI, 2 R, BB) lined a 2-run home run out to left field to cap a 3-run 2nd inning, giving the Cobras an early 8-0 lead. The visitors drove in five more in the 3rd inning, and a sacrifice fly from
Payton Roberts (1-1, 2 RBI, 2 R, BB) scored
Addie Wallace (2-3, 2 R) to extend the lead to 15-0 in the 4th.

Lewis & Clark CC broke up the no-hit bid in the bottom of the 4th with back-to-back singles, but Parkland turned a double play to get out of the inning, and the Cobras scored six in the 5th to cruise to a 21-2 win.

Ryleigh Owens (3-0) allowed just two hits and no walks over four innings of work in her second start of the season. Freshman
Kailyn Wilson (1.0 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 K) finished the game in the circle in her first appearance of the year.
