Box Score 2 CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The No. 1 Parkland College Softball team hosted a conference doubleheader versus Spoon River College in the 2024 home opener on Sunday, March 24th, and the Cobras won both games 3-0 and 9-1. The Cobras (29-3) (4-0) began the 2024 season with 30 neutral site or road games before sweeping the Snappers (16-12) (1-3) on Sunday, outhitting their opponents 20-4. Sophomore
Karley Yergler (16-2) earned a 10th straight win in her game-one start, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out 13 in the complete game shutout before the Mahomet native led the team with 4 RBI in game two, including her 11th home run of the season. Sophomore infielders
Emma Mason (1-5, 2 RBI, 3 R, BB) and
Lizzie Stiverson (4-5, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 3 R, BB) shined throughout the doubleheader, and
Ellie Vetter (9-1) got the win and the walk-off RBI double in game two.

Up next, Parkland hosts another conference doubleheader versus Danville Area Community College on Thursday, March 28th. First pitch against the Jaguars (13-7) (2-2) is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at the Parkland College Softball Field.

Alisha Frederick (3-3, 2B, R) doubled in the 3rd, but the Cobras couldn't bring her home, and the Snappers broke up starting pitcher
Karley Yergler's (7.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 13 K, BB) no-hit bid in the 4th, but the sophomore finished off the complete game shutout in the 3-0 win.

Lizzie Stiverson and

Karley Yergler (2-3, HR, 4 RBI, R) in the 3rd put Parkland up 6-0 going into the 4th.
