Box Score 2 CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The No. 1 Parkland College Softball team added two wins over conference-rival Danville Area Community College at home on Thursday, March 28th. The Cobras (31-3) (6-0) jumped out to an early lead in a 4-1 win in game one over the Jaguars (13-9) (2-4), and the offense caught fire in a 16-1 game-two win in five innings. Sophomore shortstop
Lizzie Stiverson led the Cobras with six RBI, and freshman first baseman
Alisha Frederick scored a team-high four runs on Thursday as Parkland pushed its winning streak to 24 straight games.

Up next, the Cobras travel to Springfield tomorrow, March 29th, for a conference doubleheader at Lincoln Land Community College. First pitch versus the Loggers (8-13) (3-0) is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Friday.

The Cobras struck first in the bottom of the 3rd inning on an RBI single from left fielder
Katy Hendricks (1-3, RBI, R), and second baseman
Emma Mason (2-3, 2B, 2 RBI) lined a 2-RBI single to right field later in the inning to push the lead to 3-0.

Karley Yergler (1-3, HR) popped a solo home run over the centerfield wall, her 12th of the year, to put Parkland up 4-0 in the 4th. DACC got one run back in the top of the 5th and brought the tying run to the plate in the 7th, but the Parkland defense stifled the late rally, and the Cobras closed out a 4-1 win.

Ellie Vetter (10-2) won her 9th straight decision, allowing one earned run on one hit and three walks, striking out seven over five innings of work before
Ryleigh Owens (2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 2 K, BB) closed the game in the circle.

Parkland opened the scoring with a
Karley Yergler (1-3, 2 RBI, R) fielder's choice and back-to-back RBI singles from
Lexie Griffin (1-2, RBI) and
Ellie Vetter (1-1, RBI) in the bottom of the 1st inning, and a four-run 2nd inning, highlighted by a
Lizzie Stiverson 2-RBI triple, put Parkland up 7-0 early in game two.

Stiverson (3-3, 3B, 2 2B, 6 RBI, 3 R, BB) drove in two more with a double in the 3rd, and the Cobras busted the game wide open with six runs in the bottom of the 4th inning to lead 16-0. The Jaguars ended the shutout with a solo home run in the top of the 5th, but the Cobras cruised to a 16-1 win.
