Box Score 2 SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The No. 1 Parkland College Softball team added two wins over Lincoln Land Community College in a road conference doubleheader on Friday, March 29th. The Cobras (33-3) (8-0) caught fire early in a 15-2 win in game one versus the Loggers (8-15) (3-2), and Parkland powered past Lincoln Land 11-3 in game two. Sophomore catcher
Lexie Griffin tallied a team-high nine RBI on Friday, while sophomore outfielder
Mia Ruder led the Cobras with five hits during the doubleheader.

Up next, Parkland is back in action at Illinois Central College on Saturday, April 6th. First pitch against the Cougars (7-7) (0-0) is set for 3:00 p.m. in East Peoria.

Game 1: No. 1 Parkland College 15, Lincoln Land Community College 2 (5 innings)

Back-to-back RBI doubles in the top of the 1st inning put Parkland up two early in the game, and sophomore
Ellie Vetter (2-3, HR) lifted a solo home run in the 2nd to push the lead to 3-0.
Lexie Griffin drove a 2-run homer out to left field in the 3rd inning, and the Cobras added eight runs in the 4th, including four on a Griffin (2-3, 2 HR, 6 RBI) grand slam, her 7th home run of the season, to take a 13-0 lead.

The Loggers got on the board with a 2-RBI double in the bottom of the 4th, but Cobra infielder
Kallie Evans (1-1, RBI) knocked in
Addie Wallace (1-1, R) with an RBI single in the 5th and a bases-loaded walk put the visitors back up 15-2, and Parkland polished off the win.

Karley Yergler (18-2) struck out eight of the nine batters she faced over three innings of shutout ball, and freshman
Claire Black (2.0 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 3 K, 3 BB) finished off the win.

Parkland scored first in the top of the 2nd inning with a
Ryleigh Owens (2-3, 2 2B, RBI, R) RBI double, taking a 1-0 lead before back-to-back RBI hits from
Alisha Frederick (2-2, 2B, 3 RBI, 2 R, BB) and
Lizzie Stiverson (1-3, 2B, 3 RBI, R) in the 4th, and a
Lexie Griffin (2-2, 2B, 3 RBI, BB) sacrifice fly put the Cobras up 5-0 going into the 5th.

The Cobras plated six runs in the final inning, taking an 11-run lead, but the Loggers ended the shutout with three runs in the bottom half, and Parkland left with an 11-3 win.
