Box Score 2 CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The No. 1 Parkland College Softball team shut out Lewis & Clark Community College in both games of an M-WAC Conference doubleheader on Saturday, April 13th. The Cobras (41-3) (14-0) caught fire against the Trailblazers (2-19) (1-11), outscoring the visitors 25-0 thanks to six home runs and scoreless outings from starting pitchers
Karley Yergler (21-2) and
Ellie Vetter (14-1). Shortstop
Lizzie Stiverson and catcher
Lexie Griffin each launched two home runs in the sweep on Saturday as Parkland extended its winning streak to 34 games in a row.

Up next, the Cobras travel to No. 16 Spoon River College for a doubleheader tomorrow, April 14th. First pitch against the Snappers (28-12) (9-3) is set for 1:00 p.m. on Sunday in Canton, Illinois.

The Cobras took the lead in the bottom of the 1st inning on a solo home run from sophomore
Lizzie Stiverson – and the team piled on nine runs in 2nd on seven hits, including a 2-run homer by
Lexie Griffin (2-3, HR, 2 RBI, R) and a bases-clearing 3-RBI double from
Addie Wallace (1-2, 2B, 4 RBI) to put Parkland up 10-0.

In the bottom of the 3rd, Stiverson (3-3, 2 HR, 2B, 3 RBI, 2 R) lifted her second solo home run of the game, her 10th homer of the year, to extend the lead before
Payton Roberts lined an RBI double in the 4th, and
Claire Black smacked a 2-run home run out to center field to give the Cobras a 14-0 cushion.

Karley Yergler (5.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 12 K, BB) pitched a five-inning shutout on Saturday, striking out 12 – and Parkland took game one 14-0.

Parkland drove in four runs in the bottom of the 1st on 2-run homers by
Alisha Frederick and
Lexie Griffin (1-1, HR, 2 RBI), and Frederick (2-3, HR, 3B, 3 RBI, 2 R) lifted an RBI triple in the 2nd to take a 5-0 lead. Later in the inning,
Karley Yergler (1-2, 2B, 2 RBI) lined a 2-RBI double to center field as the Cobras went into the 3rd with a 7-0 advantage.

Claire Black (1-1, 2B, 2 RBI) knocked in two runs with a double in the 3rd, and back-to-back RBI singles gave the Cobras an 11-0 lead in the bottom of the 4th.

Claire Black (2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 K) in the 4th, who closed out the 11-0 win for the Cobras.
