Box Score 2 DANVILLE, Ill. – The No. 1 Parkland College Softball team split a conference doubleheader on the road versus Danville Area Community College on Saturday, April 20th. The Cobras (46-4) (19-1) extended their win streak to 39 consecutive games with a 19-0 win over the Jaguars (23-13) (10-8) in game one before falling 2-0 in game two, their first conference loss of the year and first loss since February 20th at No. 6 Pearl River Community College. Karley Yergler (24-2) earned a win in game one and led the team with 5 RBI on Saturday, including her 16th home run of the season.

Up next, Parkland hosts Region 24 rival Illinois Central College for a doubleheader on Monday, April 22nd. First pitch against the Cougars (15-13) is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at the Parkland College Softball Field.

Parkland took an early lead on a 2-RBI double from
Karley Yergler in the top of the 1st inning, and Yergler (2-3, HR, 2B, 5 RBI, R, BB) crushed a 2-run homer in the 2nd to extend the lead to 6-0 in the 2nd. Cather
Lexie Griffin (3-4, 3 RBI, R) scored on a bases-loaded ground out later in the inning, and the sophomore lined an RBI single to left field in the 3rd to put the Cobras up 9-0. Parkland piled on seven more runs in the top of the 4th, and the Cobras scored on three consecutive RBI singles in the top of the 5th to take a 19-0 lead and win game one convincingly.

The Cobras struggled to get anything going offensively in a low-scoring pitcher's duel in game two. DACC recorded the first hit of the game in the bottom of the 3rd inning, loading the bases with back-to-back walks before a 2-RBI double gave the Jaguars a 2-0 lead. Parkland finally got on base on an
Alisha Frederick (1-3, 2B) double in the top of the 4th, but the visitors couldn't capitalize, and the Cobras were outhit 4-2 in a 2-0 loss in game two.
