Box Score 2 CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — The Parkland College women's soccer team went 1-1 this week, earning an impressive 6-0 road win at Illinois Valley Community College on Tuesday (October 7th) before falling 0-8 to nationally ranked No. 3 Heartland Community College on Thursday (October 9th).
On Tuesday, the Cobras came out firing against Illinois Valley, taking a 2-0 lead into halftime before adding four more goals in the second half to seal the shutout victory. Katie Clark led the way with a hat trick and an assist, while Gianna Massena contributed two assists and Kameron Lathrop, Jenna Clemmons, and Celia Barkley each added goals of their own.
Parkland's offense was relentless, tallying 40 total shots and 20 shots on goal, while goalkeeper Grace Larson recorded 10 saves to secure the clean sheet.
Two days later, Parkland faced a tough test against No. 3 Heartland in Normal, Illinois. The Hawks struck early and maintained control throughout, handing the Cobras an 0-8 loss despite a strong effort in net from Larson, who finished with seven saves.
The Cobras move to 2-8 on the season and will look to bounce back when they host Kaskaskia College on Saturday, October 11th, at noon.
