Champaign, Il — October 3, 2026 — The Parkland Women's Soccer team fell against #9 St. Charles Community College 0-4 on Saturday at home in a game where the Cobras were limited offensively against a talented top-10 squad.
The Cougars hit their first goal just before 10 minutes into the match and would score two more goals later in the half to take a 3-0 lead at halftime. The Cobras held the Cougars through a scoreless 44 minutes in the second half before St. Charles added to the lead with 2 seconds remaining in the game to take a 4-0 win.
The Cougars limited the Cobras offensively, as Parkland was held to 2 shots, 1 on goal for the match, while St. Charles put up 21 shots with 18 on frame. Parkland tallied 14 saves at the net for the match.
Despite a tough loss on Saturday, head coach Chase Bourgasser commented on some positives he saw from his team:
"It's a weird game to take pride in, and odd to feel happy with a 0-4 defeat. Still a long way for us to go, but when we can hold a team as solid as them scoreless for 62 minutes it demonstrates that we are capable and gives us confidence to build on. The hero of the day was
Chloe Pluger, who received an ovation from her teammates after the game for her performance. In truth, the defense ahead of her also deserves the praise. They worked to make play predictable in front of Chloe, they were in constant communication with the midfield, and didn't give a lot of time for attackers to select their shot."
