Champaign, Il -- September 26, 2026 -- The Parkland College Women's Soccer team fell to Region 24 opponent Lincoln Land College on Saturday in Champaign. Despite some offensive bursts and dominating time of possession, the Cobras could not overcome the heavy attack from the Loggers, falling 6-0.
The Loggers came out hot, hitting the net four times in the first half and limiting the Cobras offensively. The Loggers would add two extra goals early in the second half to take a 6-0 win over Parkland. The Cobras dominated possession for most of the game, but were limited offensively to just 4 shots, with 3 shots on goal for the match.
Addison Finet led the Cobras with 2 shots, while
Alyssa Wells and
Ava Jansen each put up 1 shot in the match. Goalkeeper
Chloe Pluger finished with 3 saves through a full 90-minute afternoon at the net.
Head coach Chase Bourgasser commented on the team reseting after through a tough outing on Saturday and preparing for next week:
"Just a day where LLCC connected extremely well in their limited chances. I'm encouraged by our ability to control the game, but now we need to lock in how to finish. We can't let a 15-minute window determine a 90-minute match. We discussed mentally resetting prior to the game, and then we were tested on our ability to get it done. We get the opportunity to reset prior to this Wednesday before a tough match against Kaskaskia. If we take what went well from today and fix the parts that went wrong, I don't see how the next on isn't a competitive match."
The Cobras drop to 3-5 overall (0-3 MWAC), while the Loggers improve to 3-5-1 (2-1 MWAC).
Up Next:
The Cobras will look to bounce back next week as they travel to face Kaskaskia College on Wednesday, September 30th at 3 PM in Centralia.
