CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — October 11, 2025 —The Parkland College women's soccer team came up just short in a competitive Region 24 matchup on Saturday, falling 2-1 to visiting Kaskaskia College.
All of the scoring came in the opening minutes of the first half. Kaskaskia struck twice early before Lauren Woods answered quickly for the Cobras, finding the back of the net off an assist from Kameron Lathrop at the 9:30 mark.
Despite a balanced attack and several strong offensive pushes, Parkland recorded 14 total shots and 12 shots on goal—the Cobras were unable to convert another equalizer. Celia Barkley led the team with six shots, including four on target.
On the defensive end, goalkeeper Grace Larson delivered a stellar performance, recording 21 saves while facing 23 shots on goal to keep Parkland within striking distance throughout the match.
With the loss, the Cobras move to 2-9 overall and will look to regroup when they host John Wood Community College on October 18th at noon.
