BRANSON, Mo.āMarch 5, 2026āThe No. 21 Parkland College softball team split its doubleheader on Thursday afternoon to open play at the Branson Grand Slam Classic in Branson, Missouri. The Cobras secured a 6ā2 victory over Fort Scott Community College before falling to top-ranked Murray State College, 7ā10. With the results, Parkland moves to 9ā7 on the season.
Game 1: Parkland 6, Fort Scott 2
Parkland opened the tournament with a strong performance against Fort Scott, scoring six runs to earn the 6ā2 win.
The Cobras generated consistent offense throughout the game while limiting Fort Scott's opportunities at the plate. Parkland's pitching staff kept the Greyhounds in check, allowing just two runs to secure the team's ninth win of the season.
Game 2: Parkland 7, Murray State College 10
In the second game of the day, Parkland faced one of the nation's toughest opponents in No. 1 Murray State College. The Cobras battled throughout the contest but ultimately fell 7ā10.
Despite the loss, Parkland kept the game competitive against the top-ranked Aggies, showing resilience against one of the premier programs in the NJCAA.
Parkland returns to the field on the second day of the Branson Grand Slam Classic, where the Cobras will face No. 13 Johnson County Community College and Cowley County Community College.
