Box Score CHAMPAIGN, Ill.—April 17, 2026—The No. 16 Parkland College softball team earned a doubleheader sweep over John Wood Community College on Friday, taking Game One in a tight 7–6 battle before dominating Game Two, 10–0 in five innings. With the wins, the Cobras improve to 27–16 on the season.
Game 1: Parkland 7, John Wood 6
Parkland held off a late push from John Wood to secure a one-run victory in the opener.
The Cobras totaled 14 hits in the game, with Lainey Klokkenga leading the way with 3 hits and 2 runs scored. Nicole Sinks delivered a huge performance at the plate, going 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs, including 3 home runs. Lucy Fearday added 2 hits and an RBI, while Ellie Lowe also drove in a run.
In the circle, Fearday went the distance, striking out five over seven innings to earn the win.
Game 2: Parkland 10, John Wood 0 (5 innings)
Parkland followed with a dominant run-rule victory, exploding offensively while shutting down John Wood completely.
The Cobras scored 10 runs on 10 hits, highlighted by Kaitlyn Helms' 4 RBIs and Nicole Sinks' 2 home runs. Camille Wines added a strong performance with 2 hits and 2 RBIs, while Ava Simpson contributed an RBI in the win.
Lainey Klokkenga was outstanding in the circle, allowing just 1 hit and 1 run while striking out 5 across 5 innings.
With the sweep, Parkland continues its strong stretch of play, improving to 27–16 overall.
