Box Score 2 CHAMPAIGN, Ill.—April 6, 2026—The No. 16 Parkland College softball team delivered a statement performance on Monday, sweeping No. 18 Illinois Central College in a home doubleheader. The Cobras opened with a dominant 8–0 shutout before securing a 4–3 win in Game Two, improving to 23–14 on the season.
Game 1: Parkland 8, Illinois Central 0 (5 innings)
Parkland wasted no time taking control in the opener, erupting for 6 runs in the second inning on the way to an 8–0 run-rule victory.
The Cobras tallied 10 hits in the game, led by Lindsey Muskopf, who went 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs and a triple. Maddie Gourley added 2 hits and an RBI, while Abbey Horeis and Kaitlyn Helms each drove in 2 runs to fuel the offensive surge.
In the circle, Lucy Fearday was dominant, tossing a two-hit shutout over 5 innings while striking out 8 and issuing no walks.
Game 2: Parkland 4, Illinois Central 3
The Cobras followed with a tightly contested battle in Game Two, using timely hitting and late pitching to secure the sweep.
Lindsey Muskopf continued her strong day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with an RBI. Lainey Klokkenga drove in 2 runs, while Abbey Horeis added an RBI as Parkland totaled 8 hits.
Klokkenga got the start in the circle, striking out 6 over 7.1 innings while allowing 3 runs. Lucy Fearday entered in relief and closed the door, securing the final outs to preserve the one-run victory.
Up next, the Cobras will remain at home to host Lewis & Clark College in a doubleheader on April 11, with first pitch scheduled for 1:00 PM CST and Game Two to follow at 3:00 PM CST.
