Four Cobra hurlers combined to allow just one run on five hits while striking out 14, to help lead the #14 Parkland Baseball team to a 9-1 win over the Millikin JV. The win moved the Cobras to 20-8 on the season and they will take on Eureka College on Thursday afternoon.
Casey Kempner (2-0) worked the first five innings allowing an unearned run while surrendering five hits and striking out seven.
Ty McCulloch,
Tom Cheshareck, and
Andrew Jurack worked the final four innings and did not allow a Big Blue run.
The Cobras would get all the offense they would need in the first as
Brendan Joyce walked, stole second, and came home on a
Trystin Raikes single. Raikes would also swipe second and came home on
Damian Pierce's RBI base hit.
In the 3rd, PC would strike for three more runs as
Tyler Paulsen drove home
Tyler Burthay with a double,
Brendan Joyce squeezed home a run, and
Connor Aube hit a solo shot, his 3rd home run of the year. The Cobra put the game away in the 6th as the first two runners reached on errors and
Trevor Minder and Burthay each had an RBI in the inning. Minder would also drive in a pair of runs in the 7th. He finished the contest 2-4 with 3 RBI.
