The #14 Parkland College Baseball team ran their winning streak to six games on Friday as they won a pair of games from visiting John Wood. The Cobras won the opener 11-3 and hung on for a 5-3 victory in the finale. Parkland now stands (23-8 12-2) while the Blazers fall to (14-12 5-6). The two teams are scheduled for a 2:00 doubleheader tomorrow in Quincy. Â
Game 1:
The Cobras scored seven runs in the first two innings as they cruised to the opening game win.
Trevor Minder had a two run single in the 1st and
Connor Aube,
Trystin Raikes, and
Max Downs all drove in runs in the 2nd. Â John Wood would score a run in the 4th and two more in the 5th off winning pitcher
Josh Garner (3-2) to cut the PC lead to 7-3. Â Garner allowed three runs, two earned, on five hits while striking out five.
Ty McCulloch would shut down the Blazers over the final three innings to earn his first save. Aube and Christian Sanchez each had three hits to pace the Cobras 13 hit attack.

Game 2:
Trystin Raikes two run homer over the left field wall, his sixth round tripper of the season, helped the Cobras get the win in game two. Tied at 1, Raikes blast easily cleared the wall to give PC a 3-1 lead after three innings. After the Blazers got one of those runs back in the 4th, PC would answer back with two in the 5th. Â
Connor Aube singled, moved to second on a balk, and came home on Raikes single. He would later score on a Christian Sanchez single. Â
Jack Lambert (2-0) worked the first four innings allowing a run on three hits while striking out five. Zach Acton worked the final three innings to pick up his second save of the season. Â After giving up a run in the 5th and 6th, Acton retired the side in order in the 7th to earn the save. Â Raikes paced the offense with two hits and three RBI while Minder and
Tyler Paulsen each had two hits.Â
