CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – No. 10 Parkland baseball begins its postseason run on Thursday, May 16, as the top seed in the 2019 Region 24 Tournament in Normal, Ill. at the Corn Crib. The M-WAC Champion will play No. 8 seed Spoon River on Thursday at 10 a.m. central time. The winner of this weekend's tournament will advance to the 2019 NJCAA DII Baseball National Tournament, May 25 – June 1, in Enid, Oklahoma.
 
With double-elimination bracket format, the Region 24 Tournament begins with four opening round games on Thursday. Friday quarterfinal games will be played at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. and then a 4 p.m. first pitch for the semifinal on Saturday. Game one of the championship round will be played at 4 p.m. on Sunday with a second game, if necessary, on Monday at a time to be determined. Parkland Notes

• 34-15 on the season, including 24-8 against Region 24 opponents
• Won six of eight series against Region 24 opponents, splitting with Lewis & Clark and Lincoln Land
• 6-1 against ranked opponents, including taking 3 of 4 from No. 16 Heartland
• Seeking its 10^th all-time, and fourth consecutive, NJCAA Tournament berth (2002, 2009 Champions)
• Parkland pitching staff ranks amongst the best in NJCAA: fourth in ERA (3.20), fourth in batting average against (.220), fourth in strikeout-per-nine (11.83) and fifth in shutouts (10).
• The Cobras have stolen 116 stolen bases, tied for 14^th in NJCAA DII. 69 of the 116 steals have been pilfered by Trevor Burkhart (40) and Trevor Minder (29) who rank seventh and 16^th, respectively
• Parkland ranks in the top-40 nationally in runs (34^th), home runs (23^rd), extra base hits (24^th), walks (34^th), hit-by-pitches (6^th), on-base percentage (31^st) and slugging percentage (31^st)
• Ace Ty Rybarczyk (8-0) sports a 0.96 ERA which ranks fourth nationally. Left-handed sophomore Ryan Culley owns a 13.32 K/9 rate that ranks 15^th best in the country, supporting a 3.28 ERA and 5-3 record.
• Catcher Robert Barnard leads NJCAA DII with 30 hit-by-pitches this season, one shy of the Parkland school record. The 30 HBP is more than 18 other DII teams.
• Sophomore shortstop, and Tulane commit, Trevor Minder was named NJCAA DII Player of the Week on April 24 after batting .407 and accounting for 28 of Parkland's runs that led the Cobras to a series win over No. 16 Heartland.
• Third baseman Alex Steinbach leads the Cobra offense in home runs (8), slugging percentage (.669), triples (7), runs batted in (41) and ranks third in batting average (.345). In the final game of the regular season, Steinbach hit a walk-off home run to defeat Lincoln Land and clinch the M-WAC regular season title.
