Box Score NORMAL, Ill. – No. 1 seed Parkland baseball dropped its Region 24 Quarterfinal game against No. 4 seed Lincoln Land, 2-0, on Friday afternoon at the Corn Crib. Parkland starting pitcher Ty Rybarczyk (8-1) threw his first collegiate nine-inning complete game, striking out 11 Loggers, but the Cobras were unable to score off of Lincoln Land starter Spencer Walker (8-0).

Moving to the loser's bracket, the Cobras will return to the Corn Crib at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning in an elimination game against No. 3 seed Heartland with Ryan Culley (5-3, 3.28 ERA) as the probable starter. Facing Heartland back in April, the Cobras took three of four against the Hawks. The winner of the game will play again at 7 p.m. central time in a second elimination game.
 
After being touched up for two runs in the top of the first – one of which was unearned – the Parkland ace was brilliant over his final eight innings. Allowing two hits in the first inning, Rybarczyk held the Loggers to just four hits over the final eight innings while recording 11 of the final 24 outs by strikeout without walking a batter.
 
Beginning with the second inning, the Cobra freshman sat down 12 of the next 13 batters he faced, including five straight strikeouts. Rybarczyk then stranded a lead-off double in the sixth and a first-and-third situation in the seventh before setting the Loggers down in order, again, in the eighth and ninth.
 
Taking his first loss of the season, Rybarczyk allowed just his seventh earned run of the season in 65 innings. Entering the contest with the fourth-best ERA (0.96) in NJCAA DII, Rybarczyk's ERA now sits at 0.97.
 
Combined with Thursday starter Keegan McHood's complete game, the Cobras have received back-to-back complete games to start the tournament. McHood went eight scoreless innings on Thursday before No. 8 seed Spoon River scored four runs in the top of the ninth.
 
Parkland's offense was held to three hits in the defeat, a lead-off single by Trevor Burkhart in the the first, an Alex Steinbach single with two outs in the fourth and a lead-off single by Robert Barnard in the ninth. Dan Warkentin was the only other Cobra to reach base, drawing a walk in the second.
