Box Score 2 CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Parkland College Baseball team went 0-2 on Tuesday when they welcomed Black Hawk College-Moline to Champaign, as the Braves swept the Cobras 7-4 and 9-7 in the Cobras first series played at the Parkland College Baseball field this season. The two losses are Parkland's first since February 26
th.

Up next, the Cobras will host a doubleheader against Illinois Central College on Friday, March 18th in Champaign. First pitch against the Cougars is scheduled for 1:00 PM.

Game 1: Black Hawk College-Moline 7 Parkland College 4

The Cobras jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after two innings on Tuesday afternoon, but the Braves tied the game up with three runs of their own in the third. Parkland retook the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning, but the Braves drove in three more runs in the top of the fifth and blanked the Cobras for the rest of the game. Parkland out hit Black Hawk 9-6, but the Cobras lose 7-4 on their home turf.

Cole Evans (2-4, RBI, R),
Tyler Herron (3-4, 2 RBI) and
Nick Gregory (1-4, RBI) drove in the runs for the Cobras. Gregory, Evans and
Cole Jones (2-4) each doubled in the loss.

Jay Schueler (3.0 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 4 K) got the start and
Nathan Righi (3.0 IP, 2 H, 3 ER, 2 K) came in for relief duty. Sam Meyers held the Braves without a run in the top of the seventh, but the Cobras couldn't come from behind in the end.

Game 2: Black Hawk College-Moline 9, Parkland College 7

The second game of the day was a back-and-forth affair that featured four lead changes and three ties. The Cobras struck first, but the Braves tied the game at one in the top of the third inning, before taking a 3-1 lead in the top of the fourth. Parkland tied it back up at 3-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning and they tied it up again at 4-4 in the bottom of the sixth after Black Hawk drove in another one. The flood gates finally opened in the seventh, as the Braves scored five runs in the top of the inning and the Cobras couldn't close the gap for a third time, losing 9-7 in an exciting matchup.

The Cobras did a great job of getting on base in game two, as nine different players reached. Both
Jake Vitale (2-3, R) and
Tyler Herron (1-4, BB, 2 R) had extra-base hits and
Jackson Blemler (3-3, 3 RBI, R) and
Cole Jones (2-3, 2 RBI, 2 BB) each drove in multiple runs in the loss.
Carter Monke (3.0 IP, 2 H, 3 ER, 2 K) made the start for Parkland and
Jack Snider (2.0 IP, 0 ER) came in for relief in the fourth.
