Box Score 2 NORMAL, Ill. – The Parkland College Baseball team lost two games on the road at Heartland Community College on Friday evening. The Cobras held a 1-0 lead in the first inning in both games but fell 9-5 in the first one and 11-7 to cap off an 0-2 day. Sophomore
Cole Evans led the Cobras with four RBI between the two games and Sophomore
Jack Young struck out seven batters in five innings of work.

Up next, the Cobras welcome the Heartland Hawks to Champaign for a doubleheader on Sunday, March 27th. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM at the Parkland College Baseball Field.

Game 1: Heartland Community College 9, Parkland College 5

The Cobras (10-9-1) led after the first inning, but the Hawks scored four in the 2nd and three in the 3rd to take a commanding lead. Parkland trailed 7-3 after a two-run 4th inning, but Heartland answered again, taking a 9-3 lead after the 5th. Parkland scored two more runs in the top of the 7th, but it wasn't enough and the Cobras dropped their first game 9-5.

Mitch Mueller (3.0 IP, 7 ER, 5 K) made the start for the Cobras and
Jack Young (5.0 IP, 2 ER, 7 K) relieved him in the fourth inning, allowing just two runs over five innings.

Jake Vitale (1-4, HR, 2 RBI) and
Cole Evans (2-4, HR, 2 RBI, BB) both homered in the early game, each driving in two runs.
Nick Gregory (2-5) had the Cobras lone double and
Keenan Taylor (0-3, RBI, 2 BB) walked home a run in the loss.

Game 2: Heartland Community College 11, Parkland College 7

The Cobras established a 5-0 lead through the first two innings in their second game against the Heartland Hawks, and Parkland remained in front, 7-3 through the 5th, but eight runs in the bottom of the 6th brought the Hawks all the way back as Heartland handed the Cobras their second loss of the day in heartbreaking fashion. Parkland outhit Heartland 11-7, but it didn't matter as the Cobras left 10 men on base in their fourth conference loss of the season.

Sophomore
Jay Schueler (0-0) made his second start of the season, striking out five and allowing just one earned run in three innings. Will Stockman and
Carter Monke made relief appearances in the loss.

Tyler Herron (1-5, 2 RBI, R),
Keenan Taylor (2-4, 2 RBI) and
Cole Evans (2-4, 2 RBI, 2 R) each drove in two runs and
Jackson Blemler (2-4, RBI) drove in one.
