Box Score 2 CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Parkland College Baseball hosted Lewis & Clark Community College for a conference doubleheader on Wednesday, falling short 4-1 in the first game before tying, 6-6 in extra innings, in the second game due to insufficient lighting. Parkland starting pitcher 
Jay Schueler allowed just three hits and struck out 11 over six innings in game one, but Parkland fell in the final inning. Freshmen shortstop 
Austin Gomm hit a two-run home run and sophomore outfielder 
Nick Gregory scored three times in the Cobras' game two 11-inning tie.
 
Up next, the Cobras will have over a week break from games before hosting Vincennes University for a doubleheader on Saturday, May 7th. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
 
 
Game 1: Lewis & Clark 4, Parkland College 1
 
The Cobras (23-16-2) (13-10-1) got off to a great start in the bottom of the 1st when 
Keenan Taylor drove in 
Jackson Blemler and Parkland took the lead. The Trailblazers (14-20-1) (9-10-1) offense tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the 3rd while the Cobras were held to just one hit in the final 6 innings. Parkland's starter 
Jay Schueler allowed just three hits himself, striking out 11, but after he was pulled, Lewis & Clark took the lead with three runs in the 7th and Parkland dropped game one 4-1.
 
Jackson Blemler (1-2, R, BB) scored, 
Keenan Taylor (1-2, RBI, BB) drove in Parkland's lone run and 
Austin Gomm (1-2, 2B, BB) recorded the Cobras' only extra-base hit of the game.
 
Game 2: Parkland College 6, Lewis & Clark 6 (11 innings)
 
The two teams traded runs early with the game tied 1-1 after the 2nd inning. The Cobras took the lead when 
Nick Gregory scored on a fielders' choice in the 4th, but the Trailblazers responded in the 6th inning, taking a 4-2 lead. In the bottom of the frame, 
Austin Gomm's two-run home run tied the game back up. Lewis & Clark retook a 5-4 lead in the 8th, but Parkland catcher 
Tyler Herron scored in the bottom of the 9th to send the game into extra innings. Both teams drove in a run in the 10th and the game was called due to insufficient light after the 11th, resulting in a 6-6 tie, Parkland's second of the season.
 
At the plate, 
Keenan Taylor (2-6), 
Austin Gomm (2-5, 2 RBI, R) and Jimmy Rybarcyzk (2-4) each finished with multi-hit games. 
Michael Sharman (5.67 IP, 1 ER, 6 H, 6 K) made the start for the Cobras, striking out six and allowing just one earned run. Parkland's bullpen of 
Carter Monke, 
Tucker Shalley and 
Nathan Righi allowed just one earned run in the game's final five innings.
