Cobras Go 1-1 at Vincennes University

Parkland is now 14-11-1 in the M-WAC Conference,

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 VINCENNES, Ind. – The Parkland College Baseball team matched up with Vincennes University for an away doubleheader on Sunday, splitting the series with a 7-4 loss in game one and a 7-5 come from behind win in game two. Sophomores Jaden Lamothe and Cole Evans both went deep and led the Cobras in RBI and Austin Gomm scored in both games. Parkland is now 14-11-1 in the M-WAC Conference, good for third place through 26 games.
 
Up next, the Cobras will host Vincennes University for a conference doubleheader on Monday, May 9th. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
 
 
Game 1: Vincennes University 7, Parkland College 4
 
The Cobras (25-17-2) fell behind in the 3rd inning, the Trailblazers (21-27) drove in another run in the 4th and Parkland trailed 6-0 after a 4-run Vincennes 5th inning. In the top of the 7th, Austin Gomm hit an RBI single before Jaden Lamothe went deep to cut the Trailblazers' lead to 6-3. The Cobras could not complete the rally, however as the Trailblazers scored again in the 8th, and Parkland fell in game one 7-4.
 
Nick Gregory (2-4, 2 2B, R) doubled twice to lead the Cobras in hits. Austin Gomm (1-3, RBI, R, BB) and Tyler Herron (1-4, RBI, SB) both drove in a run and Jaden Lamothe's (1-4, HR, 2 RBI, R) two-run home run was his second of the season.
 
On the mound, Michael Sharman (5-1) allowed five earned runs on nine hits in his first loss of the season, striking out three in four and two-thirds innings. Tucker Shalley and Alex Pipes allowed just one run in relief.
  
Game 2: Parkland College 7, Vincennes University 5
 
The Trailblazers jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st, but the Cobras bounced back, scoring three straight runs in the 3rd, 4th and 5th. Vincennes scored again in the bottom of the 5th to make the score 5-3 before Parkland took their first lead of the day in the top of the 6th when Jimmy Rybarczyk scored on a wild pitch, Cole Evans hit a solo shot to deep right centerfield and Jackson Moffat drove in Keenan Taylor with an RBI single. With a 6-5 lead in the top of the 7th, the Cobras got an insurance run from an Austin Gomm RBI double and Parkland closed out the day with a 7-5 win.
 
Starting pitcher, sophomore Mitch Mueller (4-2), struck out seven batters in five innings of work, allowing five runs on eight hits. Nathan Righi (2.0 IP, 0 ER, 2 H) struck out one in two scoreless innings of relief.
 
At the plate, centerfielder Cole Evans (2-5, HR, 2 RBI, R) hit two extra-base hits and Jimmy Rybarczyk (1-4, R, 3B) tripled in the 6th inning. Austin Gomm (1-3, RBI, R, 2 BB), Jackson Blemler (1-3, RBI, R, 2 BB) and Jackson Moffat (1-2, RBI, R, BB) each drove in a run, scored and walked in the win.
