No. 15 Parkland Baseball Spilt Series at Lincoln Land Community College

The Cobras are now 15-7 in conference play

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The No. 15 ranked Parkland College Baseball team went 1-1 on the road at Lincoln Land Community College on Friday, April 28th, as the Cobras lost game one 16-13 before winning game two 8-5. The Cobras (34-10) (15-7) outhit the Loggers 30-22 in the series split on Friday, as second basemen Nate Bingman hit four extra-base hits, including two home runs in game two, and pitcher Carter Monke (5.0 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 9 K) earned his eighth win.
 
Up next, Parkland hosts another conference doubleheader against Lincoln Land tomorrow, April 29th. First pitch against the Loggers (25-19) (13-9) is scheduled for noon on Friday at the Parkland College Baseball Field.

The Cobras struck first in game one, taking a 9-run lead in the top of the 1st inning, but the Loggers stormed back to make it 9-7 going into the 3rd. Freshman Chase Becker (1-3, HR, 3 RBI, 2 R) popped his team-leading 13th home run in the top of the 3rd, scoring Jackson Blemler (2-5, 2 R) and Austin Gomm to give Parkland a 12-7 lead. Lincoln Land took a 13-12 lead in the bottom of the 4th, but Gomm (4-5, 2B, HR, 3 RBI, 4 R) hit a solo home run in the 5th to tie the game back up. The Loggers regained the lead for good in the 5th, holding the Cobras scoreless for the final four innings, and Parkland lost 16-13.
 
Starting pitcher Tresdon Rybarczyk (2.0 IP, 6 H, 7 ER, 2 BB, 2 K) made his 10th start on Friday, facing 15 batters. Freshman Hunter Pudlo (1.1 IP, 0 H, 2 ER, 3 BB) relieved Rybarczyk in the 3rd inning, and redshirt sophomore Louis Stallone (0-1) was credited with the loss in Springfield.

Parkland grabbed a 3-0 lead in the top of the 2nd inning when Nate Bingman launched a 3-run home run, scoring Chase Becker (2 R, BB) and Ryan Snell. Third baseman Austin Gomm (2-5, 2B, 2 RBI) kickstarted another 3-run inning in the 4th with a 2-RBI single, and Snell (3-3, RBI, R, BB) extended the lead later in the inning, knocking in Jackson Blemler (2-4, R).
 
Lincoln Land got a run back in the bottom of the 5th and closed the deficit to just two runs in the 6th, but Bingman (3-4, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 3 R) eased tensions with his second home run of the game in the 7th, and Parkland pulled out an 8-5 win.
 
Sophomore Carter Monke (8-1) allowed just three earned runs on four hits and three walks over five innings of work, striking out nine batters in the win. Sophomore Fairleigh Dickinson transfer Brenden Katz (1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 ER) earned the save on Friday, his first of the year.
