CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The No. 15 ranked Parkland College Baseball team earned two hard-fought conference wins at home against Lincoln Land Community College on Saturday, April 29th, defeating the Loggers 2-1 and 12-7. The Cobras (36-10) (17-7) battled back for a comeback win in game one, capped by a go-ahead solo home run from Austin Gomm, and a 6-run 4th inning rally lifted the team over the Loggers (25-21) (13-11) in game two. Freshmen pitchers William O'Gorman (2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, K) and Chase Becker (4.2 IP, 6 H, 7 ER, 6 BB, 6 K) earned wins on the mound on Saturday, and the Cobras won their third straight conference series.

Up next, Parkland will travel to Galesburg, Illinois, on Tuesday, May 2nd, for a doubleheader at Carl Sandberg College. First pitch against the Chargers (19-23) is scheduled for 1:00 PM.

No. 15 Parkland College 2, Lincoln Land Community College 1

The Cobras trailed 1-0 after the Loggers walked a run home in the top of the 1st inning, put Parkland starting pitcher Alex Pipes (5.0 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 5 BB, 6 K) found his groove as the game went on. The sophomore kept Lincoln Land off the board in the 4th and got out of a 2-out, bases-loaded jam in the top of the 5th to keep the deficit at one run.

In the bottom of the 5th, Josh Outlaw (1-2, 2B, RBI) tied the game with an RBI double, scoring Ryan Snell after he reached on an error. The Cobras completed the comeback in the 6th inning when third basemen Austin Gomm (1-3, HR) launched a solo home run out to left field, putting Parkland up 2-1.

Freshman Will O'Gorman (3-2) relieved Pipes in the 6th inning, pitching two shutout innings in his ninth appearance this season. The Champaign native did not surrender a hit, allowing just two walks while striking out one batter in the win.

No. 15 Parkland College 12, Lincoln Land Community College 7

Parkland trailed again in game two following a Lincoln Land leadoff home run, but Austin Gomm leveled the score with a solo homer of his own, his second of the day. The Cobras took the lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning with back-to-back home runs from Ryan Snell (1-4, HR) and Tyler Herron (2-4, HR, 2 R), but the Loggers rallied to retake a 4-3 lead in the top of the 3rd.

Lincoln Land led 5-3 in the 4th until Josh Outlaw (1-3, 3B, RBI, R, BB) lined an RBI triple into center field, and Angelo Luna (1-3, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R, BB) hit a 2-RBI double, scoring on an error to put Parkland up 7-5. The Cobras capped a 6-run rally when Chase Becker (1-5, 2 RBI) grounded an RBI single into left field, scoring Gomm (4-5, 2B, HR, 3 RBI, 3 R). Lincoln Land got two back in the top of the 5th, but a 3-run bottom of the 6th gave Parkland a comfortable lead, and the Cobras won 12-7 to complete the doubleheader sweep.

Freshman Chase Becker (3-0) allowed seven earned runs on six hits and six walks, striking out six batters over four and 2/3 innings in his first conference win. Redshirt sophomore Nathan Waldridge (0.2 IP, 2 H, 0 ER) replaced Becker in the 5th inning, and Alejandro Maltos-Garcia (3.2 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 2 K) earned the first save of his career.
