Box Score 2 MARION, Ill. – The No. 20 Parkland College Baseball team picked up victories over South Suburban College and Harper College in the Mtn Dew Park Open on Friday, March 1st. The Cobras (5-4) outhit their opponents 16-6 in wins over the Bulldogs (5-4) and the Hawks (0-5). Starting pitchers Will O'Gorman (4.0 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 3 K, 4 BB) and
Gavin Parkerson (4.0 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 6 K, 3 BB) both picked up wins on Friday, while the offense recorded seven extra-base hits scored 22 runs in 10 innings.

Up next, the Cobras wrap up the Mtn Dew Park Open tomorrow, March 2nd, with a rematch versus South Suburban College at 12:30 p.m. and a game against Southwestern Illinois College at 5:30 p.m.

Parkland opened the scoring in the bottom of the 2nd inning with an RBI double from
Charlie Marisca (1-2, 2B, RBI, 2 R, BB), and two more scored on a sac fly and RBI ground out to go up 3-0 early. Sophomore
Will Flanigan (1-2, RBI, BB) added to the lead with an RBI single in the 3rd, but South Suburban stopped the bleeding with a run of its own in the top of the 4th. Right-fielder
Josh Outlaw (2-4, HR) launched a solo home run over the left-field wall in the 5th to get the Cobras rolling again, and Parkland punched in three more runs in the 6th to round out the 8-1 win.

Shortstop
Tylor Phommachanhom (1-3, 3B, 2 RBI, R) led the team with two RBI, as seven different Cobras drove in a run.

Heading into the 5th inning with a 4-1 lead, starter Will O'Gorman (2-0) handed the ball to freshman
Alex McHale (3.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 K, 1 BB), and the reliever pitched three innings of shutout ball, earning his first career save.

The Cobras got on the board early, driving in four runs before recording an out in the bottom of the 1st inning, but the Hawks answered with two runs of their own in the top of the 2nd. Sophomores
Ryan Snell (2-3, 3B, RBI, 2 R) and
Will Flanigan (2-3, 2 2B, 3 RBI, 2 R, BB) drove in runs with back-to-back extra-base hits in the bottom of the 2nd as Parkland scored five times to take a 9-2 lead. The Cobras added five runs in the 4th, and the Hawks scored just once in the top of the 5th as Parkland powered past Harper 14-3 in five innings.

Josh Outlaw (2-4, 3B, RBI, 3 R) led the team in runs, tying Snell with four total bases, as eight different Cobras drove in a run in the win.
