Box Score 2 CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Parkland College Baseball team went 1-1 in a home M-WAC conference doubleheader versus No. 16 Lincoln Land Community College on Saturday, March 23rd. The Cobras (12-9) (2-4) coughed up an early lead to the Loggers (18-5) (9-1) to lose the first game 11-6 before bouncing back with a 7-0 shutout win in game two, handing Lincoln Land its first conference loss of the season. Will Flanigan notched a team-high five hits on Saturday while starting pitcher
Sam Bryan (3-1) earned a win with nine strikeouts and just two hits allowed over six innings of work.
Up next, Parkland takes on No. 16 Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield tomorrow, March 24th, for another conference doubleheader. First pitch against the Loggers is scheduled for noon on Sunday.

The Cobras fell behind 2-0 in the top of the 1st inning but answered in the bottom of the 2nd, getting on the board with a bases-loaded walk before
Will Flanigan (3-5, 2B, 2 RBI) lined a 2-RBI double into right field to put Parkland up 3-2. The Cobras added three runs in the 5th on a 2-RBI triple from
Tylor Phommachanhom (1-2, 3B, 2 RBI, 2 R, 3 BB) and an RBI single from
Scott Newman (1-2, RBI, R, 3 BB) to go up 6-2, but the Loggers got a run back in the top of the 6th and drove in five runs in the 7th to retake an 8-6 lead. Lincoln Land scored three more runs in the top of the 9th and struck out the side in the bottom half to hand Parkland an 11-6 loss in game one.
Starting pitcher
William O'Gorman (6.0 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 5 K, 5 BB) allowed three earned runs on four hits and five walks in six innings, striking out five in his sixth start. Fellow sophomore
John Cederberg (3.0 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 4 K, 2 BB) finished the game on the mound in the loss.

Parkland opened the scoring with two runs in the bottom of the 1st inning, and centerfielder
Scott Newman added to the lead with an RBI double in the 2nd. Freshman
Michael Carrano Jr. (1-2, 2 RBI, R) grounded an RBI single to right field in the 3rd, scoring
Ryan Snell (1-3, 2 R), and
Charlie Marisca knocked him in to give the Cobras a 6-0 lead heading into the 4th. Newman (2-3, 2B, 2 RBI) drove in Marisca (1-2, RBI, R) in the bottom of the 6th with an RBI single up the middle, and Parkland polished off a 7-0 win to end the day.

Sam Bryan (6.0 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 9 K) faced just 20 batters through six innings before sophomore
Hunter Pudlo (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 2 K) replaced him in the 7th to finish off the shutout.
