Up next, Parkland finalizes its regular-season series against Spoon River at home tomorrow, March 30th, with another M-WAC doubleheader. First pitch against the Snappers is scheduled for noon on Saturday at the Parkland College Baseball Field.

The Snappers got on the board in the bottom of the 2nd inning, taking a 3-0 lead after loading the bases, but the Cobras answered with back-to-back solo home runs from
Josh Outlaw (1-5, HR) and
Luke Parmentier (1-4, HR, 2 R, BB) in the top of the 4th. Spoon River scored again in the 6th before Parkland tied the game on a
Jacob Filip 2-RBI single in the top of the 8th, and the Cobras took their first lead when
Tylor Phommachanhom knocked in
Ryan Snell, and
Nate Bingman lifted a sac fly out to right field to go up 6-4.

The hosts knotted the game back up at 6-6 with two runs in the bottom half, but a go-ahead bases-loaded walk from Filip (1-3, 3 RBI, R, 2 BB) put Parkland up 7-6, and the Cobras closed out the comeback win.

Starting pitcher
William O'Gorman (5.0 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 6 K, BB) struck out six of the 23 batters faced over five innings of work before being replaced by
Lane Lorton (2.0 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, K, 4 BB) in the 6th. Sophomore
Alex Vertuno (2-0) earned the win with one shutout inning in relief, and freshman
Mike Boyce (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 2 K, BB) picked up the save.

Parkland College 19, Spoon River College 3 (5 innings)

The Cobras caught fire in the top of the 2nd inning, taking a 2-1 lead on an RBI single from
Charlie Marisca (1-2, RBI, 3 R, 2 BB) before loading the bases and scoring five more to take an early 7-1 lead over the Snappers in game two. Parkland poured in four more runs in the top of the 3rd, including consecutive RBI hits from Flanigan and Snell to go up 11-1.

Third baseman
Luke Parmentier (1-1, HR, 2 RBI, R) opened the scoring in the 5th inning with a solo home run, and shortstop
Jax Hisle (1-2, HR, 4 RBI, 2 R, BB) added a grand slam later in the inning to give the Cobras a late 19-1 lead. Spoon River scored twice in the bottom of the 5th, but it wasn't enough as Parkland picked up the 19-3 win in five innings.

Sam Bryan (4-1) allowed just one earned run on four hits and one walk, striking out six in four innings on Friday. Freshman
Jack Robertson (1.0 IP, 1 H, 2 ER, 2 K, 3 BB) closed the game on the mound, making his second appearance of the year.
