Box Score 2 CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Parkland College Baseball team added a win and a loss to their record in an M-WAC doubleheader against Danville Area Community College on Sunday, April 14th. The Cobras (24-11) (14-6) extended their win streak to 12 consecutive games with a 12-5 win over the Jaguars (17-20) (12-8) before dropping game two 14-12 in extra innings. Starting pitcher
Jaxon Christensen (1-4) picked up his first win of the season, and sophomore
Luke Parmentier crushed his sixth homer of the season in game one.

Up next, Parkland hosts a doubleheader with Carl Sandberg College tomorrow, April 15th. First pitch against the Chargers (10-19) is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the Parkland College Baseball Field.

A leadoff home run by designated hitter
Luke Parmentier (1-4, HR) put Parkland up early – but Danville Area quickly leveled the game with a sac fly in the 2nd inning, and the visitors took a 2-1 lead in the 3rd. The Cobras didn't stay down long, scoring on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 3rd before walking in two runs and taking a 5-2 lead on a fielder's choice later in the inning.

The Jaguars battled back with a run in the 4th – but back-to-back RBI singles by
Josh Outlaw (2-4, 2 RBI, 2 R, SB) and
Jacob Filip gave the Cobras some breathing room, and
Jax Hisle (1-2, 2 RBI, R, BB) drove in Filip to take a 9-3 lead. DACC knocked in one more in the top of the 6th, but Parkland pulled away in the bottom half, capped by a 2-RBI triple from
Jacob Filip (2-3, 3B, 3 RBI, R), as the Cobras closed out the 12-5 win.

On the mound, sophomore
Jaxon Christensen (6.0 IP, 8 H, 3 ER, 6 K, BB) notched six strikeouts in six innings of work on Sunday before
Mike Boyce (1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 3 K) pitched a scoreless 7th inning, striking out three in the win.

The Cobras got on the board early and often in game two, scoring three in the 1st inning before back-to-back RBI doubles from
Will Applegate (2-4, 2B, RBI, 2 R, BB) and
Will Flanigan (1-4, 2B, 2 RBI, R, 2 BB) in the 2nd put them up 6-0. Sophomore
Luke Parmentier (2-3, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R, 2 BB, 2 SB) doubled in the bottom of the 3rd to extend the lead to 8-0, but the Jaguars rallied in the top of the 4th with six runs to close the gap.

DACC tied the game on a bases-loaded single in the 6th, and the visitors took an 11-8 lead later in the inning on a 10-pitch at bat, their first lead of the game. Parkland ended its scoring drought with a sacrifice fly in the 7th – and RBI singles from
Josh Outlaw (1-5, RBI, R, BB) and
Tylor Phommachanhom in the 8th knotted the game back up at 11-11. The Cobras put the go-ahead run on base in the bottom of the 9th but could not capitalize, and the Jaguars took advantage with three runs in the 10th. Phommachanhom (2-2, 3 RBI) drove in a run in the bottom of the 10th, but a game-ending double play handed the Cobras a 14-12 loss in game two.

Gavin Parkerson (3.2 IP, 4 H, 6 ER, 5 K, 4 BB) faced 20 batters in his 4th start of the year, striking out five. Sophomore
Freddie Elftmann (3.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 4 K, BB) threw three scoreless innings in relief - and freshman
Lane Lorton (2-1) was credited with the loss after entering the game in the 10th on Sunday.
