Box Score 2 CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Parkland College Baseball team added two conference wins over Lewis & Clark Community College at home on Saturday, April 20th. The Cobras (28-11) (16-6) fell behind early in game one versus the Trailblazers (22-23) (8-14) before coming back to win 14-6 in seven innings, and Parkland powered past Lewis & Clark 13-3 in six innings in game two, outhitting the visitors 26-10 over the doubleheader sweep. William O'Gorman (5-0) and
Sam Bryan (6-1) both earned wins on Saturday, while sophomore third baseman
Will Flanigan led the team with five hits and six RBI, including his 9th home run of the season in game two.

Up next, the Cobras travel to Alton, Illinois, to finish the series with Lewis & Clark Community College tomorrow, April 21st. First pitch against the Trailblazers is scheduled for noon on Sunday at Lloyd Hopkins Field.

Game 1: Parkland College 14, Lewis & Clark Community College 6 (7 innings)

Lewis & Clark took an early lead on a solo home run and a sacrifice fly in the top of the 2nd inning – but Parkland battled back in the 3rd, tying the game on an RBI single from
Will Flanigan (3-4, 2B, 4 RBI, 3 R) before
Tylor Phommachanhom (1-4, 3 RBI, 2 R) scored on a wild pitch and
Jacob Filip (2-4, 2 RBI) grounded an RBI single to left to go up 4-2 heading into the 4th.

The Cobras extended their lead to 9-2 with three straight RBI hits in the bottom of the 4th, but the Trailblazers trimmed the deficit with two runs in the 5th, and a Lewis & Clark sacrifice fly in the 6th cut the score to 9-5. Freshman
Andrew Gallegos (1-4, 2B, 2 RBI) lined a 2-RBI double in the bottom half to give the Cobras some cushion, and Parkland scored three more in the bottom of the 7th to run-rule Lewis & Clark and close out a 14-6 win in game one.

William O'Gorman (6.0 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 7 K, 2 BB) allowed threw 66 of 107 pitches for strikes on Saturday, striking out seven before
Lane Lorton (1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, K) closed out the win on the mound.

The Parkland offense took no time to get going in game two, as
Luke Parmentier scored on an error,
Ryan Snell (1-3, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R, BB) lined a 2-RBI double to right field, and the Cobras drove in eight runs in the bottom of the 1st to take control of the game early. Lewis & Clark answered right away with a run in the 2nd, scoring on an error before both defenses settled in.

Sophomore shortstop
Tylor Phommachanhom (2-3, RBI, R, BB) grounded an RBI single to left in the bottom of the 5th, and Parmentier (2-3, 3 RBI, 2 R, BB) knocked in
Will Applegate later in the inning to extend the lead to 10-1. The Trailblazers scored two in the top of the 6th, but
Will Flanigan (2-4, HR, 2 RBI, 2 R) lifted a solo home run in the bottom half, and Applegate (3-4, 2B, 3 RBI, 2 R) smashed a 2-RBI single back up the middle to put give the Cobras the 13-3 win, ending the game on runs in six innings.

Sam Bryan (6.0 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 8 K, 2 BB) allowed just two earned runs on five hits and two walks, striking out eight in a six-inning complete game.
