Box Score 2 ALTON, Ill. – The Parkland College Baseball team split a road conference doubleheader at Lewis & Clark Community College on Sunday, April 21st. The Cobras (29-12) (17-7) surrendered an early lead in an 8-6 game-one loss to the Trailblazers (23-24) (9-15) before bouncing back with a 10-2 win in game two. Second baseman
Jax Hisle led the team with three runs and six RBI on Sunday, blasting two home runs in the doubleheader – and freshman
Gavin Parkerson (4-3) took the win in game two, striking out 10 batters in six innings of work.

Up next, Parkland welcomes Illinois Central College to Champaign on Saturday, April 27th, for a conference doubleheader. First pitch against the Cougars (19-23) (14-8) is scheduled for noon at the Parkland College Baseball Field.

Parkland opened the scoring in the top of the 3rd inning on a solo home run from
Luke Parmentier (1-2, HR), his 7th of the season. In the 4th, sophomore
Jacob Filip (1-4, R) scored on a passed ball before freshman
Jax Hisle (2-4, HR, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R) launched a 2-run shot and
Scott Newman (1-4, HR) added a solo homer of his own to give the Cobras an early 5-0 lead.

Lewis & Clark CC started the comeback in the bottom of the 5th, knocking in four runs to trim the lead to 5-4. Parkland walked in a run in the top of the 6th to add to the lead, but the Trailblazers drove in four more runs in the bottom half to take an 8-6 lead, and the Cobras couldn't answer in the 7th in the loss.

John Cederberg (4.2 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 2 K) made the start in game one, handing the ball to
Freddie Elftmann (0-2) midway through the 5th inning. Freshman reliever
Lane Lorton (1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 3 K, BB) entered the game in the 6th, striking out three in the loss.

Luke Parmentier (2-5, 2 2B, R) put the Cobras on the board for the second straight game, scoring on a passed ball in the top of 1st inning in game two, but the Trailblazers leveled the game with a solo home run in the bottom of the 5th. Shortstop
Tylor Phommachanhom (1-3, HR) quickly broke the tie with a solo home run in the top of the 6th before
Nate Bingman (1-3, 3 RBI, R, BB) grounded a 2-RBI single later in the inning – and
Jax Hisle (1-3, HR, 4 RBI, R) crushed his second home run of the day to put Parkland up 7-1.

Lewis & Clark CC added a run in the bottom of the 6th, but the visitors walked in three more runs in the 7th and blanked the Trailblazers in the bottom half to close out a 10-2 win in game two.
