Box Score 2 EAST PEORIA, Ill. – The Parkland College Baseball team added two wins on the road over Illinois Central College on Saturday, April 27th. The Cobras (31-12) (19-7) completed comebacks in both games against the Cougars (19-29) (14-12), taking game one 12-3 before a four-run rally in the top of the 7th lifted the visitors to a 7-4 win in game two. Sophomore pitchers
William O'Gorman (6-0) and John Cederburg (2-0) earned wins on the mound, and redshirt freshman
Scott Newman launched three home runs in Saturday's doubleheader.

Up next, the Cobras wrap up their regular season series with Illinois Central College at home on Sunday, April 28th. First pitch against the Cougars is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at the Parkland College Baseball Field.

Game 1: Parkland College 12, Illinois Central College 3

The Cobras grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning on a
Will Flanigan sacrifice fly. The Cougars countered in the bottom of the 3rd, taking the lead on a two-out 2-run home run, but Parkland did not stay down long, tying the game with an RBI double from
Jacob Filip (3-5, 2B, RBI, R) in the 4th and taking a 5-2 lead on a 3-run home run by
Ryan Snell (2-5, HR, 3 RBI, R). Later in the inning, first baseman
Luke Parmentier extended the lead with a solo home run, his eighth of the season.

Illinois Central quickly got a run back in the bottom of the 4th inning, but Parkland picked up three insurance runs in the 6th – and Parmentier (4-6, HR, 3 2B, 4 RBI, 3 R) produced his game-high fourth RBI of the game with a double in the 8th. Center fielder
Scott Newman (1-3, HR, 2 RBI, 3 R, 2 BB) added a 2-run home run in the top of the 9th as the Cobras cruised to a 12-3 win in game one.

Sophomore pitcher
William O'Gorman (7.0 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 13 K, 2 BB) tossed 84 strikes on 114 pitches in seven innings of work on Saturday, striking out a season-high 13 batters in the win. Freshman
Lane Lorton (2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 3 K, BB) entered the game in the 8th inning, his 13th relief appearance of the year.

Game 2: Parkland College 7, ICC 4

In the 1st inning, Parkland put a run on the board on an RBI double from
Adison Worthman, and the defense got out of a 2-out bases-loaded jam in the bottom half, but ICC answered in the bottom of the 2nd, tying the game at 1-1.
Scott Newman smacked a solo home run in the 3rd to regain the lead, but the Cougars drove in two runs in the bottom half to take the lead and added a run in the 4th to go up 4-2.

The Cobras closed in on another solo shot from Newman (2-2, 2 HR, 2 RBI, 3 R, BB) in the top of the 5th, his second of the game, and freshman
Jax Hisle (1-3, HR) blasted a solo homer out to center field in the 7th to tie the game at 4-4. Later in the inning, fellow freshman
Adison Worthman (3-4, HR, 2B, 4 RBI, R) stepped up to the plate with two-out and two men on and crushed a 3-run home run to put Parkland up 7-4, and the Cobras closed out the win in the bottom of the 7th to complete the comeback and sweep the Cougars on the road.
