Box Score 2 RANTOUL, Ill. – The No. 19 Parkland College baseball team wrapped up its regular season series against conference foe Illinois Central College with two wins on Tuesday, April 30th. The Cobras (33-12) (21-7) outhit the Cougars (19-31) (14-14) in the doubleheader 18-4, winning game one 8-1 before taking an 11-1 win in game two in five innings. Starting pitchers
Jaxon Christensen (2-4) and
Gavin Parkerson (5-3) picked up wins on the mound, combing for 11 strikeouts in the doubleheader, and six different Cobras launched home runs on Tuesday to extend the current win streak to five games in a row.

Up next, Parkland heads to Vincennes University on Saturday, May 4th, for the final road conference doubleheader of the regular season. First pitch against the Trailblazers (13-38) (5-23) is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. EST.

Parkland loaded the bases in the first two innings of game one versus ICC, taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st on a
Josh Outlaw (1-3, BB) walk. The Cougars tied the game with a solo home run in the top of the 4th, but the Cobras countered quickly in the bottom half, scoring on a passed ball, and sophomore
Jacob Filip (1-3, HR, 3 RBI, BB) launched a 3-run home run to center field to take a 5-1 lead.

Jaxon Christensen (6.0 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 5 K, BB) struck out two in the top of the 5th to get out of a bases-loaded jam, and Parkland extended its lead to with two runs in the 5th, and an RBI double from
Tylor Phommachanhom (1-2, 2B, RBI, R, 2 BB) in the 6th to put the Cobras up 8-1. Freshman
Cale Coursey (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 2 K) closed out the win on the mound with a scoreless 7th inning.

Game 2: Parkland College 11, ICC 1

The Cougars opened game two with a triple and a sacrifice fly to take an early 1-0 in the top of the 1st inning. The Cobras took the lead in the bottom of the 2nd with a 2-RBI double from
Scott Newman (1-1, 2B, 2 RBI, R, 2 BB) and added to it with back-to-back home runs by
Will Flanigan (1-2, HR, BB) and
Charlie Marisca (1-3, HR) in the 3rd. Later in the inning, freshman
Andrew Gallegos (1-3, HR, 3 RBI) crushed a 3-run homer to left field, his second of the season, to put Parkland up 7-1.

The Cobras closed out the game in the bottom of the 5th with the long ball, as designated hitter
Luke Parmentier (1-4, HR, 3 RBI) took advantage of two leadoff walks by lifting a 3-run home run over the right field fence – and
Will Applegate (1-3, HR) launched a game-ending solo home run in the next at bat as Parkland run ruled Illinois Central 11-1 in five innings.

Gavin Parkerson (5.0 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 6 K, BB) settled in after surrendering an early run, blanking the Cougars the rest of the way while striking out six in the five-inning complete game.
